There were many significant points in the documentary. One point that stood out to me is the fact that kids see 3,000 commercial messages every day. That means that they are easily influenced by what they see. Kids now are constantly on social media meaning that they are constantly seeing ads about toys and other products. Another point that I saw is that toy companies make thousands of toys just based on one movie. They said that they made thousands of toys just for when TMNT came out in theaters. That means that kids saw the movie and wanted the toys that were produced from it. The last major point that I found was that marketers are similar to pedophiles. They are constantly watching kids and how they act. They watch the focus group through a one-way mirror and it even said that they would watch them when they were in the shower or taking a bath.

There are many motivations from the reading "Why We Play". One motivation that I found is "...video games may teach the realities of way, both political and human, but even where no such lessons are offered, video games require problem-solving and good strategic thinking." This relates to the video with Jane McGonigal in many ways. One way that I thought of was when she talks about the 10,000 hours of practice. You can master whatever skill that you practice for that many hours. I realize that playing a video game and being in war first hand is different, but if someone who played "war" video games actually went into combat they could use some of the skills that they used in the game in real life. You need problem-solving skills and strategic thinking when in combat. Another motivation that I found is the biological motivation. One thing that is talked about in both the reading and the video is the rules in football. In the reading, A Variety of Religious Experience , it talks about how the rules are " universal, transparent, and legitimate". This means that the rules are easy to understand and are the same all around. The video, Football High , talks about how there should be no rules against when they can practice, no matter how hot, or how there are no rules for safe tackling. The rules have been the same in football since the game has been created. They have made some small changes, but that is about it. The rules they need to be changing they are ignoring. Another topic they talked about in the reading and video is transportation. In the reading, transportation was a necessity in order to play the game. You would not have enough players if you did not use transportation. This also means that the rules would have to be exactly the same for both teams in order for them to play each other. In th...

There are many things that connect the reading and the video. In both state that men spend a lot more time and money worrying about what they are going to wear and what they have to wear. In both, they also state that there is a certain way that men are supposed to act and look and if you don't look like that then others will judge you and think that you don't care about your appearance. Another thing is that in the reading, it states "There's no question that men today are more interested in things that were traditionally more associated with women." One thing that this made me think of is in Mansome when some of the guys were talking about how they get waxed or shave basically their whole bodies. This can be seen as something for female-like, but now, men are expected to be shaved. This also reminds me of when the guy says he is going to get his nails done. It is just a part of self-care for most men.

In the video, The Young Turks, the girl talks about how this shouldn't be what girls have to go to during college in order to pay for it. The girl in the video actually supports her on her decision, unlike the other videos. In The View, they say that they just feel bad for her. Both videos seem to judge her on her decision even though she is doing what is making her happy. Also, in The View, they ask her a lot of questions about why she is doing it and what her thought process has been throughout the whole thing. They also ask why she thought that no one was going to find out her identity. They also all agree that she shouldn't be getting death threats because of this.

There are many main points about weddings that have changed since weddings began. First, weddings used to be small events held at home with close friends and family. Now, it is to show off as much as you can and make it seem like the bride and groom have always been in love. The white dress was impossible to clean so it was only to be worn once. Queen Victoria was the first woman to start the trend because it showed off how clean and rich she was compared to everyone else in the dirty city. One last thing that has changed is the mindset that you HAVE to find your "soulmate" in order to have a lasting marriage. According to the video, couples who actually believe in soulmates and ever-lasting love are more likely to break up because of false hope.
